Dear Friend of the Kent Autistic Trust

I am delighted to tell you that mhs Homes have nominated the Kent Autistic Trust as their charity of the year. On the Saturday the 25th January 2014, they held a fundraising event to recognise the plight of the homeless which involved 60 volunteers building their own shelters out of cardboard boxes and sleeping out in their unsheltered car park in Chatham dockyard. Money raised for this event will be shared between the Trust and Caring hands, an organization that help the homeless.

Five Trust staff members, Tracy Long, Jacqui Ingram, Kerry Hampton, Yvonne Jones and Katie Wood, joined 50 other people to sleep out to help raise money for the Trust. It was a bitterly cold, windy and rainy night to spend sleeping in a box. mhs organisation of the night was terrific and there were boxes for people to use to build their shelter with Ashley Hook from mhs homes, Pastor Matthew Guest from Caring Hands and myself giving prizes for the best shelters in a number of categories. Christine Edwards-Daim, Operational Manager, Medway joined us as we rallied our troops! The Trust won "Best Style" and you can see from the pohotograph this was well deserved.

The Local press took lots of photos of everyone's efforts with their box designs. You will be able to see photo's of the event in Friday 31st January's Kent Messenger.

So Far £6,508 has bee raised. It would be great if you could support our staff by giving a donation. You can still use this by going on to their JustGiving pages which I have listed below or by sending a cheque payable to the Kent Autistic Trust and telling us the money has been raised for the mhs home sleep out event.

If you would like to follow the other events that mhs homes are taking part in over the year to raise money for the Trust please look on thier website or out website

Thank you for your continued support of the Kent Autistic Trust.

Kind regards,

Chief Exectutive
