History

The Kent Autistic Community Trust was started in 1985 by parents of children with Autism Spectrum Condition and in 1989 we changed our name to The Kent Autistic Trust. We are a Registered Charity and a not for profit Company Limited by Guarantee.

We opened our first small, six bedded living service and our first community based day vocational centre in Medway in September 1989. Now, in 2007, we provide supported living accommodation and day vocational services for 44 people across Medway and Kent.

The living accomodation we provide is either owned by or leased from Housing Associations and the people who live in them are tenants. The Kent Autistic Trust provides this support with funding from Local Authority Social Services, Health Authorities, Direct Payments and Supporting People.

We have offices in Medway and in Kent
